The Blues are taking a much serious approach for tonight’s round 9 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Brumbies knowing what their opponent is capable of.

In a battle between two top-three teams in the competition, tonight’s blockbuster between the two sides looms as a “good test” with less than two months out from the playoffs.

Blues captain Patrick Tuipolotu says they need to go above and beyond their performance last week.

Tuipolotu says they are coming up against a set piece-oriented Brumbies team who are playing really well.

He says this is pretty much their test match.

He adds as they come up against these top teams they will really gauge where they are at.

Both teams have only lost one match from their seven starts so far, but another defeat could prove costly as the race for a top-two finish and possible home semi-final continues to heat up.

The Blues will play the Brumbies at 7.05 tonight in Auckland.

In another Super Rugby Pacific match tonight, the Crusaders will play the Western Force at 9.35.

Meanwhile, in other matches played yesterday, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua lost to the Hurricanes 38-15 while the Reds outclassed the Highlanders 31-0.
