Bledisloe test: New faces, old rivalry, big stakes

The Bledisloe Cup is safe for yet another year, but the All Blacks still find themselves with plenty to play for tonight against the Wallabies in Perth in front of an expected 60,000 strong crowd at Optus Stadium.

Stuff.co stated that a win tonight would be their first in the Rugby Championship this year and would help answer some of the criticism surrounding the team's inconsistent tendencies.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies also have plenty on the line, with prop James Slipper set to play his 151st and final test in the gold jersey.

The All Blacks are currently on a 10-game winning streak against the Wallabies, with their last loss coming five years ago at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

This is the third test played between the two sides in Perth, with one win each so far.

The Wallabies' 2019 win ended with a scoreline of 47–29, which remains the highest total the All Blacks have ever conceded.

In an interview with NZ media, All Blacks coach Scott Robertson says the team will need to get their combinations right and now is the time to give other players opportunities.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt says he is proud of the way the players have stepped up against significantly higher-ranked teams and guarantees that the effort will be there again.

The All Blacks play the Wallabies in Perth at 9.45pm tonight.
