As Krishna Janmashtami celebrations begin across the country, the Bhav Sagar Ramayan Bhajan Faag Mandali from Vuci South, Nausori, is urging youths to participate in spiritual and cultural activities.
While speaking to fijivillage News, manager Raviketh Prasad says the mandali was formed just a year ago, and is made up of young members who are dedicated to singing bhajans and kirtans at religious festivals and community events.
Prasad described the Krishn Janmashtami festival as one of the most significant in the Hindu calendar, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna – the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
He says that Krishn is one of the most beloved deities in Hinduism, known for his wisdom, mischief, love, and divine powers.
He says that his birth symbolises the triumph of good over evil, a message that is still deeply relevant today.
Prasad also addressed some of the challenges currently facing the community, including the rising cases of HIV and drug abuse among youth.
He says we must guide our young people to stay away from such harmful paths and focus on spiritual and moral values.
He also says that the recent acts of temple break-ins in the country need to be addressed.
Krishna Janmashtami, which begins today, will be observed by devotees nationwide with fasting, prayers, singing of devotional songs, and reenactments of Krishna’s life and teachings.
