A man with more than five serious heart blockages is back on his feet after a successful surgery at PSH Hospitals in Nadi.

When a 60-year-old Dineshwar Prasad started feeling an uneasy, crushing sensation in his chest, he knew something was wrong.

‘’I didn’t wait. I told my family I wanted to go to the hospital right away,’’ said Prasad.

That quick decision has saved Prasad his life. At Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals), tests revealed more than five blockages in his heart, a condition that could have been more fatal without urgent surgery.

For Prasad the news was shocking, but he found strength in his family’s support.

‘’My family stood by me every step of the way,’’ he said.

Prasad described the care he received as outstanding.

‘’The doctors and nurses were so kind. I am feeling much better now due to the love and care I received in this hospital,’’ he added, smiling.

The complex surgery was performed by renowned Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon, Dr Sanjeev Khulbey.

‘’This was a challenging case because of the number of blockages. But with timely intervention and the teamwork by our cardiac team, the surgery was a success, and the patient is making an excellent recovery,’’ said Dr Khulbey.

Founder and chief executive officer, Parvish Kumar of PSH Hospitals says;

‘’Our goal is to provide world-class heart care right here in Fiji, so patients don’t have to travel overseas. Seeing people like Prasad recover and return to their loved ones healthy and happy is the greatest reward for our team,’’ said kumar, proudly.

PSH Hospitals continues to offer advanced heart surgeries and specialist treatments, bringing hope and healing to patients across Fiji and the Pacific.
