Bati loses to Kumuls 22-10

The PNG Kumuls has defeated the Vodafone Fiji Bati 22-10 in the first Pacific Rugby League Bowl Championship match.

The Kumuls dominated the first half of the match scoring three tries.

Robert Derby started the scoring for the Kumuls in the 15th minute, followed by an intercept by Judah Rimbu in the 25th minute and Sylvester Namo scored with two minutes left for half time.

The Kumuls led 16-0 at the break.

The Bati's first try came in the second half from Semi Valemei.

The Kumuls kept the pressure on the Bati and managed to come away with a try from Nene McDonald to put them ahead to 22-4.

Maika Sivo had the final say as he scored the Bati's second try in the final seconds of the match.

The Bati will take on the Cook Islands at 8.10pm next Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in their second match of the Pacific Rugby League Bowl Championship.
