Apisai Bati who won gold in the Senior Boys' high jump for CMF College in the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 1 competition

Excitement and delight was something that was seen all over the face of Apisai Bati who won gold in the Senior Boys' high jump for CMF College in the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 1 competition at the HFC Bank Stadium earlier today.

Being a first-timer participating in the competition, Bati says he is just excited and proud of his achievement.

He says coming into this competition he has set his sight in winning gold in his event and qualifying for the Coca-Cola Games next week.

The year 12 student says he was not expecting much but he backed himself and earned another gold medal for his school.

Team Manager David Ali says for a school that is participating in the competition for the first time, this is an achievement.

Ali says the support they have been receiving so far this year has been overwhelming and history has been made as some of their athletes have qualified for the Coca-Cola Games next week.

Meanwhile, CMF College had 138 athletes coming into the Suva Zone 1 competition.
