Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala reminded members of the Nairara Youth Club in Ra to evade misleading information being spread by Fijian journalists that the assistance provided through budget and Government-funding is vote-buying.

Bala made the comments while speaking at the handing over ceremony of 1 fibreglass boat and engine to the Nairara Youth Club.

He reiterated that they are there as a Government to serve the youth and meet their expectations.

Bala says there are local journalists, who will not attend functions like this but will ask people to record what Ministers are saying and what Ministers are giving and report negative stories.

He adds the boat and engine have been given to the Nairara Youth Club as it is a need and will provide assistance in the form of income generation to the youth club members.

He assures them, that the work that they have been doing for the youth is not being done now or today, and they have been doing this for years.

Bala says they will continue to do this, as long as they are in office.

He is calling Fijian journalists who are spreading misleading information, to stop misleading the youth of this country as it does not do any good to them.

He urges the youth to make their own decisions, understand what is right and wrong, and know the difference between truth and propaganda to determine their future.

Nairara Youth Club President, Josaia Sukaloa thanked the Fijian Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their timely response to a call for a fibreglass boat and engine on behalf of the 35 registered youth members.

Sukaloa appreciates the Fijian Government’s support in adhering to their request to address youth needs in the community.
