Running through the rain to reach the washrooms will be a thing of the past for the students of Lomary Secondary School after the BSP Financial Group Limited handed over its latest Community Project to the school, which involves the construction of additional walkways, the installation of roofing on all walkways connecting various school buildings such as classrooms, toilets, and the canteen.

BSP says renovations were also carried out on the washroom blocks.

In addition to the sheltered walkways and to assist the school’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene program (WASH), several tap water facilities were installed throughout the school.

BSP General Manager Retail Ravindra Singh says this project underscores BSP’s commitment to the community and Vanua, and they are delighted to celebrate the culmination of their collaborative effort with this School and the Ministry of Education to enhance the learning environment for 372 students.

He says BSP’s Community Project Program is driven by a shared social commitment with external partners to foster positive change within communities.

Singh adds the dedication and hard work of their branch staff on this project showcase their commitment to serving and uplifting the communities they are a part of.

School Head Boy Tevita Tuiloma, expressed his sincere gratitude, stating that the project has brought joy and smiles to the students and teachers of Lomary.

School Head Girl Sarafina Nayacalevu expressed relief that students will no longer have to rush through the rain to reach the washrooms.

She emphasised the pride in leaving a legacy as an outgoing student and advised younger students to always be grateful for this project, which will benefit the school in the long term.

Head of School, Josua Tawake, spoke about other improvements being undertaken at the school with the blessing of the Parish Priest, Fr Gabiriele Dulunaqio, and the landowners, the Nayacalevu family.

He says other developments in the pipeline include an ambition to introduce a Technical Training Centre in the near future.
