Australia’s Attorney-General, Michelle Anne Rowland, who has Fijian heritage, has conveyed her heartfelt congratulations to the people of Fiji and to all Fijian Australians as the nation marks its 55th Independence Day today.
In a post on her Facebook account, Rowland paid tribute to all Fijian Australians, including those in her electorate of Greenway, and extended her congratulations to their Fijian neighbours.
She says as the first Cabinet Minister of Pacific Islander heritage, she is proud to carry a piece of Fiji with her wherever she goes.
Rowland adds that she looks forward to continuing to work with her counterparts in Fiji and across the Pacific for a safer, fairer region.
