Kiala Lusaka in the Suva High Court today.

Assistant DPP Elizabeth Rice has alleged in the Suva High Court that Congo National Kiala Lusaka sent the photo of his deceased wife via Facebook to her father in Australia.

Lusaka allegedly murdered his wife on 23rd July, 2019 in Suva.

While making her opening statements today, Rice told the court that Lusaka met his wife in Africa as she was working there and they got married in 2011 and had three children.

Rice says in 2017, Lusaka’s wife got a job with the World Food Programme and she was based in Fiji.

She further told the High Court that Lusaka alleged that his late wife was having an affair and it was clear that all was not well in the marriage.

Rice adds that on 23rd July, 2019, Lusaka sent a photo of his deceased wife lying on the bedroom floor with bruises on her body and with coins placed on her eyes to his father-in-law in Australia.

She says the father-in-law alerted the authorities and when Police found her body it was exactly the same as that in the photograph.

Lusaka maintained his not guilty plea today.

The trial continues before Justice Vinsent Perera.
