Best Fascinator Award winner Ashiana Aznin Ali

The Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva is alive with colour, couture, and creativity as the Fiji Fashion Week hosted the Melbourne Cup Luncheon 2025, celebrating style and community spirit alongside the world-famous horse race.

Among the many standout looks at the event, Ashiana Aznin Ali stole the spotlight, winning the Best Fascinator Award for her uniquely crafted headpiece.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Ali revealed that she made her entire outfit herself, including her striking fascinator, which was ingeniously fashioned from Janola bottles.

Ali says it took her one night to finish her look, and adds that she enjoys pushing creative boundaries each year.

Ali, who has been attending the Melbourne Cup Luncheon for several years, says the event is one she looks forward to for its vibrant fashion and festive atmosphere.

And when it comes to the races, Ali admits she plays it safe by placing bets on all the horses participating.

Meanwhile, speaking during the celebration, FJFW Managing Director Ellen Whippy-Knight said the annual Melbourne Cup Luncheon at the Grand Pacific Hotel has become one of Suva’s most anticipated social events, blending high fashion with the excitement of Australia’s biggest racing day, while showcasing the ingenuity and craftsmanship of local designers and fashion enthusiasts.
