Arson and murder accused trial to begin this Wednesday

The trial of a man alleged to have murdered a 35-year-old woman in Lami in 2020 will begin in the High Court this Wednesday.

Arvind Chand Rai, a carpenter from Narere, Nasinu is charged with one count of arson and one count of murder.

Chand has been further remanded in custody.

The prosecution has informed the court that they will be producing 21 witnesses during the two week trial.

Rai is alleged to have murdered a 35-year-old woman in Lami on the 22nd of July, 2020.

Fai Yen Chan was found unconscious by firefighters who were responding to a report of a fire at the victim’s house.

The trial will begin at 9am Wednesday.
