Fiji Trades Union Congress National Secretary Felix Anthony has been re-elected as the International Trade Union Confederation – Asia Pacific President, Executive Officer of FTUC Jotika Sharma was unanimously elected as the Chair of the ITUC-AP Women’s Committee, while FTUC Youth Committee member Mererai Vateqe retained her position as Ex- Officio of the ITUC-AP Youth Committee and her seat at the ITUC Youth Committee.

The 5th ITUC-AP Regional Conference was held in Bangkok Thailand, and attended by over 200 trade union leaders, youth and women representatives from unions in the Asia Pacific region.

Anthony will serve his 3rd term as ITUC-AP President and has held the position for the past two terms since 2015.

Sharma has held the position of 1st Vice Chair for the last four years.

Dr Zoe Port of NZCTU from New Zealand was elected as the ITUC-AP Youth Committee Chair.

The top three positions of ITUC-AP president, Women’s Committee Chair and Youth Committee Chair were scooped by the Pacific in the Asia Pacific region, with the inclusion of 2 females in the top three positions.
