Animals Fiji have raised concerns regarding the treatment of animals in the country after a dog who suffered serious injuries to the face had to be euthanised.

On their official Facebook page, Animals Fiji says the dog who goes by the name Jordan was brought to their Nadi Clinic with a trauma to his face, which is consistent with a cane knife cut.

They say Jordan also had cropped ears which is commonly done in Fiji to pig hunting dogs.

The organization says this is an extremely cruel and misled practice that does not increase the dogs’ ability to hunt or catch wild pigs.

Animals Fiji says it did not report the matter to police as they did not have full information about the incident.
