47-year-old Daniel Prasad, who is charged with the murder of his 28-year-old partner Karishma Chaudhry in Kerebula, Nadi over the weekend, has been remanded in custody.

Prasad appeared in the Nadi Magistrates Court.

It is alleged that on Sunday, following an argument, the father of three struck his partner on the side of the head and neck with a cane knife.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had earlier stated that the victim was eight months pregnant when she was allegedly killed by her abusive partner.

Prasad's case has been transferred to the Nadi High Court and he will reappear in court on the 14th of May.
