Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights Chairman, Alvick Maharaj

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights Chairman, Alvick Maharaj says about 30% of voters did not vote in the 2018 general elections and if these voters vote, then they can change a lot of things.

He made these comments during a public consultation on Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill 2020, Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill 2020 and Political Parties Registration Funding and Disclosure Amendment Bill 2020 in Urata in Bulileka, Labasa last night.

He says the committee is not representing any party and is an independent body that speaks on facts.

Maharaj adds that people have come and made submissions for their own benefit that favours them with regards to the elections.

He says they are not there to tell the voters who they should vote for but to tell them that they should vote.
