Special Administrator of the Nausori Town Council Uma Kant Patel

The Special Administrator of the Nausori Town Council Uma Kant Patel is urging ratepayers of Nausori to come forward and pay their town rates after he revealed that about $3 million is owed to the Council.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Patel says if they can collect 100 percent rates, they can do much better in terms of improving their services in other areas.

He says ratepayers are not really coming up and they are continuing their awareness programs.

He adds that 90 percent of the cases of people that defaulted on their rates have been taken to the Small Tribunal Claims to claim the rates from them.

The Special Administrator says when they provide their services, they don’t choose and pick who they will provide services to.
