Attorney General, Siromi Turaga

Attorney General, Siromi Turaga has called on Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum to let the Government do its job as today is just one month since they were sworn in as the new government.

Turaga also stresses that the Ministers have powers to appoint and remove certain boards just as Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum did with the Housing Authority Board recently.

The Attorney General says Sayed-Khaiyum had asked them to resign before the end of their term, and they did and he appointed a new Board.

Turaga says Sayed-Khaiyum also raised the issue of the new Chair of the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation holding a press conference.

The Attorney General says Sayed-Khaiyum seems to have particular animosity on this issue.

He says other Board Chairs have had press conferences and there’s nothing wrong with it. Turaga clarifies that the FBC Chairman had resigned from The People’s Alliance before his appointment.
