Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says it is the right of a person if they want to accept or not accept a medical procedure or treatment, however, it is in everyone’s best interest to get vaccinated.

While speaking to heads of the Government Ministries, major corporate companies and the management of Fiji National Provident Fund in virtual budget consultations, Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted the importance of encouraging people via their social media platforms and leading by example - getting vaccinated so there is a way forward for businesses.

Participants had shared their experiences on the challenges caused by the current COVID-19 pandemic and provided recommendations for the upcoming 2021-2022 National Budget.

They also raised issues of some of their staff not willing to get vaccinated due to personal reasons, which is not safe for the operation of their business.

Sayed-Khaiyum will be meeting other stakeholders for the budget consultation throughout the week.

Participation during this budget consultation included Ministry of Local Government, Municipal Councils, iTaukei Land Trust Board, Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, Investment Fiji, Fiji Roads Authority, Ministry of Environment and Waterways, Biosecurity Authority of Fiji, FNPF, management and board members including Jacks of Fiji, Fijian Holdings Limited, Tappoos Limited, C.J Patel and Ashabhai & Company Limited.
