The Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar has applauded the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji Qian Bo words that there is a reserve supply of cyclone assistance items in stock in China in case of any emergency.

Bhatnagar says the Ambassador stated the stocks are readily available and all they need is a green signal from the Chinese Government to deliver the items.

While handing over goods to help the Ministry of Women prepare for the cyclone season, Bo says they are quite aware that we are approaching the new cyclone season and the necessary preparations to minimize the possible damages and losses need to be undertaken.

The donated items worth $85,000 include water purifiers, first aid kits, sanitary napkins, non-woven bags, solar lamps, generators and moisture-proof pads.

While receiving the donation, Bhatnagar says the relationship between People’s Republic of China and Fiji is a long-standing one and China has supported us with aid many times when Fiji faces a crisis.

Bhatnagar has thanked the All China Women’s Federation for their generous support and friendship in terms of supporting the needs of Fijians.
