As the HSBC Madrid 7s kicks off tonight, All Blacks 7s captain Dylan Collier knows there will be a lot of pressure on them now to try and claim this tournament to get them prepared for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Collier says there is always pressure on them when they wear the black jersey as they know they are demanded to win, especially from their home country.

He says they have won the last two tournaments in Hong Kong and Singapore but for them, they are just building in every tournament and trying to get better.

Collier says their main goal is to win the Olympics, so this is just another step.

He says if they can win this tournament, it is just going to instil a lot more confidence and build a lot more momentum for them heading into the Olympics.

NZ is in Pool B at the Madrid 7s alongside Fiji, South Africa and Ireland.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s will take on NZ at 12.14am tomorrow, they will then play Ireland at 11.06pm tomorrow before taking on South Africa at 1.49am Sunday.

The Men’s cup semi finals will kick off at 10.21pm Sunday and the cup final will be at 6.26am Monday.

In the Women’s category, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will take on France at 11.28 tonight, they will then play Australia at 10.22pm tomorrow before playing Ireland at 1.05am Sunday.

The Women’s Cup semi finals will kick off at 9.33pm Sunday and the cup final will be at 5.49am Monday.
