It was a Father’s Day like no other for families in the Lau Group, as they received much-needed relief supplies following the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Rae.

The cyclone left many struggling after damaging plantations as their primary source of food and income, prompting a desperate plea for government assistance.

Responding to their call, government teams, along with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) and other stakeholders mobilized supplies including food rations, water and essential household items, to affected villages.

People from the affected villages expressed their emotions saying this year’s Father’s Day was unforgettable, not just because of the hardships they endured but also because of the overwhelming support they received from the government.

For many fathers in the Lau Group, this year’s celebration was not just about family but also about resilience, hope and the kindness of those who stepped in to help when they needed it the most.
