84% of the health workers at the Lautoka Hospital and 79% at the Ba Hospital have chosen to join Health Care Fiji.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to a question by National Federation Party MP, Lenora Qereqeretabua.

Qereqeretabua asked if all staff at the Ba Mission Hospital will be automatically recruited or absorbed as employees at the new Ba Hospital managed by Aspen.

Sayed-Khaiyum says not all staff will be employed by the hospitals.

He says they have already said that the people who work in these hospitals have a choice where they can choose to stay within the Ministry of Health or they can join Aspen.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds there are currently 913 staff, including doctors working at the 2 facilities where 122 are at the Ba Mission Hospital and 795 at the Lautoka Hospital.
