From 2014 to 2021, close to $75 million has been used by the Fijian government in terms of developments throughout the province of Nadroga.

Speaking at the Nadroga/Navosa Provincial Council meeting, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says $38 million was used for health services, from which $30 million was used to build the Keiyasi Hospital.

He says this hospital serve the villages such as Noikoro, Nasikawa, Namataku, Bemana, Naqalimare, Navatusila and Nasivikoso in Ba.

Bainimarama says about $13,485,200 was used to build roads in Nubuyanitu, Draubuta, Nakoro, Nawairabe, Navitilevu and Matokana.

He adds everything they have accomplished has been a joint effort between the national government and the people, with communities, the private sector, civil society organisations and the provincial councils.

The Prime Minister says Namada, Tubairata, and Mavua Village and also Hideaway Resort have benefited through the funds spent on water connectivity and improving water systems.

He says $3.7 million was used to build the Kulukulu wing of the Sigatoka Methodist Secondary School, the Teachers Quarters at St. Theresa Lisieux, the Ratu Lalabalavu High School in Malolo, and the Vatutoko Bainimaramara Primary School.

Bainimarama adds the government continues to promote education as one of the keys to a knowledgeable society.

The Head of Government revealed they have some big plans in the pipeline for the tourism sector, which includes the redevelopment of Vatulele Island Resort-a massive development that will transform the island and Fiji. The Prime Minister also reassured the people of Nadroga that itaukei land and itaukei rights are well protected under the 2013 Fijian Constitution.
