Thousands of residents along the Lami corridor and throughout Lami Village have been affected by water cuts since yesterday, with no water trucks deployed to supply affected households.
Frustrated residents have contacted fijivillage News, saying the lack of water is especially difficult for children during the current hot weather, as they become easily dehydrated and frequently need to shower to cool down.
One resident expressed frustration that no prior warning or notice was given before the water supply was cut.
He says water trucks should have been dispatched immediately, but this has not happened.
The Water Authority of Fiji confirmed that repair work is underway to fix a mechanical issue at the Tamavua Reservoir.
They say that water trucks will be deployed to affected areas this morning, as multiple locations are impacted, and trucks will be assigned accordingly.
However, WAF has not confirmed when repair works will be completed and says the public will be updated once the water supply is restored.
