A 56-year-old man who has been charged with allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece will appear in the Suva High Court today.
The man appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court last Friday and was remanded.
Police say it is alleged that between the month of April and May this year, the man had threatened to inform the victim’s aunt about an incident where she was seen talking to a boy unless she gave him something he wanted.
They say the man then allegedly led the victim to their backyard garden where he committed the offense.
Police adds the girl relayed the incident to a friend, who then informed their teacher.
A report was lodged and the matter was investigated by the Nakasi Police.
