Good news for first homeowners in the Western Division as 52 residential lots have been made available in Tavakubu, Lautoka.

The Housing Authority says the available lots offer a diverse range of sizes ranging from approximately 229 to 599 square metres.

They say to be eligible for a lot in Tavakubu, you must be a first-time homeowner, a Fijian citizen with an annual household income of $50,000 or less, able to purchase the land and build a house and be 18 years of age and older.

The Authority says there are 17 high-end residential lots on offer in Tavakubu to those earning above the $50,000 income category and these lots will be sold later via a separate Expression of Interest process.

They say for the existing 57 sitting tenants in Tavakubu, the Ministry of Housing and Housing Authority jointly had a consultation session with the tenants and will use the Housing Authority Lot Allocation Policy for Sitting Tenants and Informal Settlers.

The Authority says they understand the financial commitment of home ownership, which is why they have the best home loan packages and they will also facilitate the First Home Ownership Program Grant through the Ministry of Housing.

Applications for the 52 residential lots are due by Friday, 24th May, at midnight.
