The Prime Minister and his wife, Mary with the Chairman of the Fiji Sports Commission Peter Mazey and the CEO of Fiji Sports Council Litiana Loabuka took part in the tree planting with the children.

Fifty trees were planted today by the children from Kids First Centre and some children who attended the Fiji Day Food Fair at the Fiji Sports Council carpark.

While officiating at the tree planting, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says this tree planting is part of the government's 30 Million Trees in 15 Years initiative.

He says in 50 years time, these children will be able to look at the trees they planted and remember this day.

Bainimarama says that he would not want to dwell on government programs, as today is about celebrating Fiji's 50th Anniversary and people deserve to have some fun.

The Prime Minister and his wife, Mary with the Chairman of the Fiji Sports Commission Peter Mazey and the CEO of Fiji Sports Council Litiana Loabuka took part in the tree planting with the children.
