5 players with links to Fiji to feature in Super Rugby Trans-Tasman opener

Filipo Daugunu, Seru Uru, Jona Nareki, Moses Sorovi and Suliasi Vunivalu

Five players with links to Fiji will feature in the opening match of the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman competition between the Queensland Reds and the Highlanders this Friday.

Filipo Daugunu and Seru Uru will start for the Reds while Moses Sorovi and Suliasi Vunivalu will be on the bench.

Jona Nareki has been named to start on the wing for the Highlanders.

The Highlanders will play the Reds at 7.05pm Friday.

In other matches, the Hurricanes will meet the Waratahs at 9.45pm Friday, the Crusaders will face the Brumbies at 7.05pm Saturday, the Rebels take on the Blues at 9.45pm Saturday and the Western Force will host the Chiefs at 11.55pm Saturday.

Queensland Reds: Dane Zander, Brandon Paenga-Amosa, Feao Fotuaika, Ryan Smith, Angus Blyth, Angus Scott-Young,Liam Wright, Seru Uru, Kalani Thomas, James O’Connor, Jock Campbell, Hamish Stewart, Josh Flook, Filipo Daugunu, Bryce Hegarty.

Reserves: Josh Nasser, Harry Hoopert, Taniela Tupou, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Fraser McReight, Moses Sorovi, Isaac Henry, Suliasi Vunivalu.

Highlanders: Ayden Johnstone, Ash Dixon, Siate Tokolahi, Pari Pari Parkinson, Josh Dickson, Hugh Renton, Billy Harmon, Kazuki Himeno, Aaron Smith, Mitch Hunt, Jona Nareki, Scott Gregory, Michael Collins, Patelesio Tomkinson, Sam Gilbert.

Reserves: Liam Coltman, Ethan De Groot, Josh Hohneck, Bryn Evans, James Lentjes, Kayne Hammington, Tim O’Malley, Ngatugnane Punivai.
