ANZ Fiji will be donating food parcels worth $20,000 to 400 families in need across Fiji this Diwali.

ANZ Fiji Country Head Saud Minam says COVID-19 has impacted the Fijian economy and many families whose livelihoods depend on tourism are having a tough time.

Minam says every year ANZ hosts an event for their customers in celebration of Diwali however due to COVID-19 this year, they want to donate those funds back into the community.

He says organisations such as HART Homes, Treasure Home, Purple Rose and others play an important role in society and ANZ is proud to support them and many other communities.

The President of the Fiji Society of Saint Vincent De Paul, Flolyn Simpson says they are grateful to ANZ for their support.

She says their current effort is to provide lunch to 273 children in schools, 3 days a week.

Simpson says they have continued their assistance in the Nadi community with groceries, soil training for backyard gardens, medications, and provisions for individuals with small craft and catering business start-ups as well.
