40 bridges have been grouped into four levels of priority replacement by the Fiji Roads Authority due to their current condition.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says there are 10 bridges in each of the 4 priority packages located in Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Ovalau and Rotuma.

Rabuka says in that 4 priority packages, three are under the maritime structure which include Natovi Jetty, Savusavu Jetty and Nabouwalu Jetty.

He says Beca International Consultants Limited together with Erasito Consultants and PLANIT Pacific Pte Limited are engaged to carry out feasibility studies that include environmental and social safeguards assessments along with a detailed design to support subsequent procurement of civil works packages for the project.

He adds that through the Transport Infrastructure Investment Sector Project, the Government of Fiji is being supported by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.

The 2nd round of consultation meetings to present the final designs for 5 bridges in Priority Package 1 will be held tomorrow at the Waiqanake village hall at 11am and Navola village hall at 3pm. He also says that another consultation will be held at the Lautoka City Council Chambers at 11am and the Sabeto Revival Church Hall at 6pm this Wednesday.

Rabuka further says that the last consultation will be held at Vitawa Village Hall at 11am this Thursday.
