A day to remember for 4 officers from the National Fire Authority after they were awarded a medal each last night for sacrificing themselves to save lives.

Firefighter Seru Cakobau, during the height of the fire, rescued the MH Company Secretary from the burning building.

Station Officer Training Kalisito Raduva and Epeli Roko were awarded the Fire Service Long Service Medal for having served in the Fire Service for over 30 years.

Sub Officer Norman Henry Francis was awarded the Fire Service Meritorious Medal for his role with the NFA Rescue Team in the retrieval of the bodies of the two pilots who lost their lives when their Cessna 172 Plane crashed into the mountains of Delaikoro in Labasa, Vanua Levu.

NFA CEO Puamau Sowane congratulated the 4 Officers and thanked them for their selfless sacrifice for the sake of the National Fire Authority.

Sowane says their act of obedience to the call of duty exemplifies the typical life of a firefighter when responding to any emergency call.

He says at the sounding of the alarm, the firefighters would respond without any hesitation, to ensure that they are able to attend to the emergency and assist in every way possible.
