Minister Parveen Bala

The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations has paid $366,709.01 as final compensation to 19 employees who passed away and sustained injuries at their workplace before December 2018.

This includes three families of former employees who passed away and 16 employees who were injured.

Minister Parveen Bala says this compensation pay-out will provide greater relief to dependents of deceased workers including injured workers as they prepare for the new school year.

The Ministry has paid $860,394.65 to 43 compensation cases this year where there were 10 deaths and 33 injuries.

Injuries and deaths occurring from January 2019 are handled by the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji.
