33 jobs have been impacted through the outsourcing of the waste collection to Suva City Council by the Nasinu Town Council.

This was confirmed by the Nasinu Town Council CEO Anurashika Bari who says that these are the employees of Nasinu Town Council and have been encouraged to apply for the roles that Suva City Council have put out.

Bari says they acknowledge that SCC is a separate legal entity and they have their own Human Resources processes.

She says majority of the these 33 employees have applied.

Bari says once they have been accepted for any of the position that they have applied for, the Nasinu Town Council will then release them.

The Nasinu Town Council signed an outsourcing Memorandum of Agreement with the Suva City Council which means the SCC will now conduct waste collection in the greater Nasinu area.

Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar earlier stated that the MOA will enable Nasinu residents, businesses and informal settlements to receive regular and efficient waste collection services.

She says under this agreement, waste collection services will continue for Nasinu three times weekly for household kitchen waste, monthly for green waste and quarterly for white goods.
