$300,000 allocated for Ratu Sukuna Day celebrations

$300,000 has been allocated for the Ratu Sukuna Day celebrations to cater for the three-day event which will be held at the end of this month at Albert Park in Suva. Assistant Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ratu Isikeli Tuiwailevu says this allocation is provided by the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

He says the celebration will be held over 3 days from Wednesday 29th May to Friday 31st May 2024, with the theme of Celebrating Visionary Leadership Through Education and Culture, based on Ratu Sukuna’s legacy.

He says one of Ratu Sukuna’s enduring legacy is strengthening culture through the educational system and traditional institutions.

Ratu Isikeli says on the 29th of May the first event will be the Culture and Education Symposium at the Holiday Inn and the Great Councils of Chiefs Chairman, Ratu Viliame Seruvakula will be the chief guest.

He says the 30th of May will be dedicated to the primary and secondary school students, and the event will start at 9am at Albert Park.

The Assistant Minister further says other speech contestants, culture performances and exhibitions will be held and a public lecture will be held at FNU Nasinu Campus at 5pm by Professor Steven Ratuva.

The main celebration will be held on Friday the 31st of May with a march to be held from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park at 9am with the Prime Minister delivering his speech.
