Fiji’s women’s football team has achieved a significant milestone as three senior players have secured professional contracts overseas for the 2025 season.

Rewa and national team defender Anegline Rekha, a versatile defender has signed with Western Springs in New Zealand.

Fiji Football Association says she is expected to travel on February 1st.

They say her strong tackling, aerial prowess, and leadership qualities have earned her recognition as one of Fiji’s finest defenders.

National and Rewa midfielder Adi Lita Bakaniceva joined Papua New Guinea’s Hekari FC last week.

Known for her exceptional vision and ball control, Fiji FA says Adi Lita’s move is a testament to her consistent performance and dedication to the sport.

Maria Veronica Maria is set to join Adi Lita at Hekari FC this Wednesday.

They say her midfield versatility and ability to adapt to different playing styles make her a valuable addition to the team.

Fiji FA says this achievement reflects the rising standards of women’s football in Fiji, driven by the their investment in grassroots programs and competitive leagues.

They say the contracts also highlight the increasing recognition of Fijian talent on the global stage.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel says this is a proud moment for Fijian football as these contracts show that Fijian players can compete at the highest levels and inspire the next generation of female footballers.

National women’s coach Angeline Chua says these players are trailblazers.

She says their success shows what is possible with hard work and determination and add they hope to see more players following in their footsteps.
