Three people have lost their lives in three separate road accidents since yesterday morning while a 3-year-old child is still admitted in hospital after sustaining injuries in an accident in Taveuni yesterday morning.

The accident in Taveuni also claimed the life of a 60-year-old farmer.

Police say the farmer allegedly lost control of the vehicle while going down a hill.

The vehicle then veered off the road and hit a pile of rocks.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver from Nepani in Nasinu passed away following a road accident in Narere this morning.

He allegedly lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road near the junction of Omkar Road.

He was rushed to the Valelevu Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.

In a separate case, a 40-year-old man was killed in a road accident in Lavusa in Nadi yesterday afternoon.

The man's vehicle veered off the road and tumbled several times.

Police say the man was allegedly drunk during the time of the accident.

The passenger travelling with the victim escaped serious injuries.
