Three people residing in Sakoca settlement are in custody following two raids conducted by Police in the settlement yesterday, which resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, marijuana and assorted items believed to have been stolen.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu says a raid conducted at the house of the first suspect resulted in the seizure of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

He says the team, supported by the Fiji Police Dog Unit and Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), upon receiving information, searched the suspect's house, where K9 capabilities were able to detect the alleged illicit substances as well as items believed to have been stolen.

He adds the suspect was taken into custody as investigations continue.

ACP Driu says another raid also conducted in Sakoca resulted in the arrest of two men following the discovery of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and assorted items believed to have been stolen.

He says the two, in their 30s, remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police says other arrests for alleged cases of unlawful possession were recorded in Sigatoka, Nadi and Taveuni as operations teams step up on the momentum of disrupting and destabilising the illicit network.

The Fiji Police Force is urging members of the public to continue sharing information in relation to any form of illegal activities through Crime Stoppers on 919.
