28-year-old man charged for one count of murder after the death of a 70-year-old man in Cuvu

A 28-year-old man from Sabeto has been charged for his alleged involvement in an aggravated robbery which resulted in the death of a 70-year old man in Cuvu Top, Sigatoka.

The man has been charged with one count of murder and will be produced in the Sigatoka Magistrates Court today.

Police say the suspect was earlier arrested after a search conducted at his residence resulted in the discovery of assorted items alleged to have been stolen from the victim's home.

They say another suspect who is a 19-year-old man was also arrested earlier and is still being questioned.

Police had earlier said that the man was a victim of an alleged robbery where he sustained serious injuries which caused his death.

They said the suspects allegedly entered the man's home and tied him and his partner and assaulted him.

Police said the man's partner managed to free herself and upon checking, discovered the man’s body.
