21-year-old Sulueti Bogi from Drauniivi Village in Ra, who has been living on the streets since February this year, says she still holds hope of one day standing on her own feet and supporting her two children.
Sharing her experience of life on the streets, Bogi says she did not find love at home, so she turned to the streets where she found the love and acceptance she had longed for.
Bogi is a divorcee with two children.
She says her children are currently living in Nausori.
She shared that both her parents have passed away, and she is the second youngest in a family of ten siblings.
Despite her situation, Bogi says she tries to earn at least $10 a day, which she sends to the family caring for her children, just to show she still cares.
Her goal is to find a job so she can earn a stable income and provide for her children.
She expressed her gratitude to Makereta Mafini for taking them into her home in Lautoka, saying it feels like having their own place where they are free to live and do what they need to.
Bogi adds that they mostly sleep at Shirley Park, using cardboard for bedding.
