2026 is going to be a defining year for Fiji in making our beloved nation a land of hope to unlock opportunities for all Fijians.

This has been highlighted by the leader of the National Federation Party Professor Biman Prasad, who says the decisions all of us take is going to have a profound impact on what we bequeath our future generations.

He says the NFP fully understands that our country has been built on generosity, sharing of resources, hard work, dedication and honesty of our people.

Professor Prasad says our people are resilient and they know their role in working together for a better future.

He says the NFP has played a significant role as part of the coalition government in the last three years.

The NFP leader says they have a clear vision and determination to look beyond our past and they have a unified approach.

Professor Prasad says they have have resolved many contentious issues, restored fundamental rights and freedoms of the media, rights of our civil servants and other workers, trade unions and all our people.

He says we will continue doing so through dialogue, negotiation and consultation as these are basic tenets of a genuine democracy.

Professor Prasad stresses that nobody is perfect and they are no exception as they have been criticised and vilified, albeit sometimes unfairly but in leadership, one must learn to be tolerant and press ahead to ensure that we must always provide leadership that is compassionate, kind, always caring and empathises with our people.

He says NFP will continue to strive towards weaving Fiji together for lasting social and economic advancement as well as political stability.

Professor Prasad says as leader of the NFP, he is committed to serving the Fijian people—no matter what capacity he may be in.

He says the task ahead of us is challenging, but he is more than confident that when we, the Fijian people, work in unity, there is no hurdle too great that we cannot handle.

While wishing everyone a blessed, prosperous and healthy New Year, the NFP leader adds New Year’s Day is a time for celebration and optimism and it is a time to look ahead.
