2023 Coca-Cola Games : Naitasiri Secondary lead the girls division while RKS lead the boys division

Naitasiri Secondary and RKS currently lead the medal tally for girls and boys respectively

Naitasiri Secondary School has had a great start on day 1 of the 2023 Coca-Cola Games as they lead the girls division with 2 gold and 1 bronze.

Adi Cakobau School is in second place with 2 gold medals while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is in third place 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Bucalevu Secondary, Jasper Williams High School, Thomas Baker Secondary and Swami Vivekananda College are tied in fourth place with 1 gold each.

MGM High is next with 2 silver and 1 bronze.

In the boys division, Ratu Kadavulevu School is leading with 1 gold and 1 silver.

Natabua High School, Korovuto College, Saint Vincent College and Sigatoka Methodist High School have 1 gold each.

Funahashi wins gold in girls division despite pressure

Vishant Reddy of Korovuto College and Hina Funahashi of Jasper Williams High School

Vishant Reddy of Korovuto College has dedicated his win to his family in Fiji and abroad.

Reddy won gold in the senior boys 1,500 metres event at the Coca-Cola Games 2023.

Makesh Nand of Ba Sanatan College won silver while Arjun Gounder of Central College had to settle for bronze. Meanwhile, Hina Funahashi of Jasper Williams High School who has won gold in the senior girl 1500 metres says she was under a lot of pressure to win again this year but she has managed it.

Funahashi, who is from Japan, also won a gold medal in the intermediate grade last year.

Funahashi will be moving back to Japan at the end of the year.

Alefina Volavola of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School won silver while Veniana Tuiloma of Vunisea Secondary School won the bronze.




Namakoli of Natabua dedicates 1,500 metres inter gold medal win to parents and supporters

Savenaca Namakoli of Natabua High School who won gold in the intermediate boys 1,500 metres event at the Coca-Cola Games has dedicated the win to his parents and supporters.

While speaking to fijivillage News after the win, Namakoli says he has been preparing for the race for the past one month.

Namakoli has also thanked head coach Waliki Satakala for training him every day.

Rosivela Matanimeke of Waidina Secondary has won silver while Akaash Singh of Khalsa College walked away with the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Lilieta Buna of Thomas Baker Secondary School has won gold in the intermediate girls 1,500 metres, Gladness Simpson of Ratu Luke Secondary won the silver while Akeneta Lutu of Lomaivuna High School has settled for bronze.

Milika Lewairavu and Laisiana Tikoitukuna of Naitasiri Secondary School have both won gold medals for their school in the 1,500 metres events.

Lewairavu won gold in the girls sub-junior 1,500 metres event.

She broke away from the rest of the pack in the last 200 metres, and there was no looking back from there.

She dedicated her win to her parents and siblings who helped and supported her.

Lewairavu says she has been training for the last 2 weeks and it has certainly paid off with the win.

Kalisi Dama of Seaqaqa Central College took the silver while Esther Nasici settled for the bronze medal.

Laisiana Tikoitukuna won the second gold medal for Naitasiri Secondary School in the junior girls 1,500 metres event.

Naomi Qalo of Nasesevia Secondary School settled for silver while Sera Marama of Naitasiri Secondary took out the bronze medal.

Meanwhile Ledua Cama of St Vincent College Natovi won gold in the junior boys 1,500 metres.

Apisai Leone of Lautoka Muslim College won the silver medal while Marika Lawaniyavi of Thomas Baker walked away with the bronze.

Kalisi Dama of Seaqaqa Central College took the silver while Ester Nasici settled for the bronze medal.

Laisiana Tikoitukuna has won the second gold medal for Naitasiri Secondary School in the junior girls 1,500 metres event at the Coca-Cola Games 2023.

Naomi Qalo of Nasesevia Secondary School settled for silver while Sera Marama of Naitasiri Secondary took out the bronze medal.

The 1,500 metres finals are currently underway.
