The 2021 McDonald's Fiji Coral Coast Sevens will be held later next year as the organising committee are currently in consultation with key tournament sponsors on the best option for the 11th installment of the event.

The committee says they were fortunate to stage this year’s event in January before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown global sports in March.

Chairman of the Coral Coast Sevens tournament Jay Whyte says it is for this reason after lengthy deliberation and discussion, it was agreed that the best way forward was to move the tournament to late 2021.

He says when things normalise, they will be excited to stage the event as a welcome back party for friends and fans.

Whyte adds the tournament will be reviving its original eight qualifying tournaments, which will give all the teams from around the country the opportunity to book their spot.
