Minister for Infrastructure, Lands and Mineral Resources, Jone Usamate says the $200 million Government guarantee is important for growing entrepreneurs and farmers.

He says that the Fiji Development Bank is a critical organisation in Fiji’s economy and that the guarantee period will allow the new and upcoming farmers and businesses to keep growing step by step.

Usamate says FDB is the only bank that is delving into the business sector because it is risky and as leaders we need banks to give money into that sector.

He says micro, small and medium entrepreneurs all need money while subsistence farmers turning to commercial farming need capital.

Usamate also called on the Opposition members to be leaders and to do what is best for the country at the moment.

He says some of the comments from the Opposition do not reflect the fact that the members of parliament think what is best for the country and says that a lot of focus has been put on the elections.

Usamate also called out to the Opposition to be real leaders and to forget the elections.

He says elections will come and some of the MPs will be there and some of them will not be there, but after the elections you want to be able to say that I supported the farmers and entrepreneurs of the country regardless of the election results.
