20 businesses that have been operating for at least 50 years in Sigatoka were recognised for their contributions.

While unveiling the monument for Sigatoka Town this morning, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says it takes real stamina to stay in business for that long and it also takes brains, courage, sacrifice and an ability to manage risk and adapt to changing consumer taste and economic conditions.

Bainimarama says the 12 foot Stallion monument will forever symbolize Sigatoka’s celebration of Fiji’s 50 years of independence.

He adds that the monument also demonstrates Sigatoka’s dominance in rugby.

The Prime Minister says despite the more than 1 million lives claimed by COVID-19 worldwide, Fijians are safe.
