Two men who were allegedly involved in robberies in Labasa, Nakasi and Nausori will be produced in the Labasa and Nausori Magistrates Court separately.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa says the Director Criminal Investigations Department SSP Loraini Seru led a joint Divisional CID task force consisting of officers from the Northern, Eastern and Southern Divisions, where they gathered information on the two men.

ACP Waqa says based on the information gathered, a team intercepted the two men aged 40 and 28-years-old, while they were traveling to Nabouwalu. He says investigations then led to a raid conducted at the home of the first accused in Vunivau, Labasa.

ACP Waqa says items believed to have been stolen in robberies in Wailevu, Vunika and Vunivau in Labasa which include watches, chains, assorted alcohol and electronic gadgets were discovered.

He says upon further investigations, it was discovered that the second accused, the 28-year-old residing in Narere, was allegedly linked to robberies in the Eastern Division. The Task force managed to link the accused to robbery and burglary cases in Waila, Luvuluvu, Bau Road and Nakasi.

The 40-year-old man charged with 4 counts of aggravated burglary and 4 counts of theft will be produced in the Labasa Magistrates Court while the 28-year-old man charged with 4 counts of burglary and 4 counts of theft, 2 counts of burglary and 2 counts of theft will appear in the Nausori Magistrates Court.

ACP Waqa says the CID Divisional Task force teams will be heightening its operations on receivers of stolen goods this festive season.
