2 charged with possession and importation of meth appear in court

Imran Khan, who is charged with one count of possession of illicit drugs has been granted bail while Zoherb Zaral Begg, who is charged with one count of possession of illicit drugs and one count of importation of drugs, has been remanded in custody until Monday.

Both men appeared in the Suva Magistrate court this afternoon.

Khan was granted a cash bail of $1,000, where he had two sureties.

It is alleged that he was found with 4.136 milligrams of methamphetamine.

His case will be called again on the 17th of March.

Meanwhile, Begg is alleged to have been found in possession of 1.183 kilograms of methamphetamine.

He was told by the Magistrate to pay a cash bail of $10,000 and to provide two sureties.

Begg told the court that they can pay the amount today, however, the Magistrate told Begg that they will have to pay on Monday.

Begg will front court again on the 17th of this month.
