1,500 students from Lelean Memorial School took part in their Cadet Passout this morning at Albert Park, marking the event’s return after 13 years.
21 buses transported students to Suva from the school for three days of training ahead of the parade.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, told the students that the cadet program will help them make good life decisions and become future leaders.

He also acknowledged the Methodist Church for its role in instilling discipline and loyalty through the program.
Lelean Memorial School Principal, Napolioni Silatolu says discipline ensures balance and order in the school and brings peace to society, while its absence leads to chaos.
Silatolu says the school will continue to initiate such initiatives for the benefit of the children.
Best male cadet was awarded to Nikusio Nadavo from Nakaile, Tokatoka, in the Varani House, while the best female cadet award went to Sereana Nakavu Tawatawa from Naqalimare, Nadroga, in the Bulu House.
Best male platoon commander was awarded to Ratu Imanueli Volavola from Cuvu, Nadroga, in the Mateinaniu House, and best female platoon commander was awarded to Jedidah Dreketirua from Raralevu, Bau, Tailevu, of Varani House.
The most disciplined student throughout the cadet training was Autiko Tumuri Raranibula from Labasa, in the Mateinaniu House.
