103 residential Housing Authority lots are now available for the people in Covata, Vanua Levu.

While launching the project, Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa, says this is a great opportunity for the people of Vanua Levu as people will have a chance to build their new homes.

The Minister says housing is a challenge for all Fijians however this project will be a relief for some as it provides them with an opportunity to build affordable housing.

Nalumisa says he knows that 103 lots is not sufficient but they are working closely with the stakeholders to provide this opportunity to many other people.

He says those earning below $30,000 will secure a 3.50 % fixed interest rate for five years and 6.25% afterwards and those that have earnings below $50,000 will secure a fixed rate of 3.9% for five years and 6.25% thereafter.

He says embracing continuous growth and innovation, the Housing Authority has embarked on digital transformation as they have launched their digital platform.

Nalumisa further says the digital transformation will allow people to apply through the portal so that people do not have to rush for required documents and submission of applications.

Housing Authority CEO, Ritesh Singh says after a lapse of a few years, they are able to develop and deliver new residential lots and it is exciting when it is for the people of the Friendly North.

Singh says they continue to adapt and grow the business to see further opportunities and captalise on those areas and be able to deliver their promise.

He says recently they have also completed their 5 year strategic plan as they will continue to focus quality, decent and afforable housing.

The CEO has also acknowledged the ministry for their continuous support in various projects.
