Ten people from Kadavu were referred to the Saint Giles Hospital for treatment between 2019 and 2020 because of drug abuse.

This was revealed by the Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu at the Kadavu Provincial Council meeting in Tavuki Village in Kadavu.

Tudravu said these statistics were from Saint Giles Hospital.

The Acting Police Commissioner told the nine chiefs of Kadavu that Police can not work in isolation and need the vanua’s support.

He said only a handful of people are involved in the cultivation of marijuana in Kadavu and they are able to prosper because others remain quiet and turn a blind eye to the illegal activities.
